Utility Department
Notice of Planned Water Outages


The Johnson City Utility Department will repair and/or replace water valves and fire
hydrants in the City the week of January 13th and the week of January 20th. The City waited
until after the holidays to complete this important work.
To complete this work, water service must be temporarily turned off in various areas
throughout the City between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on each day of work. Importantly, the water
outage will not be Citywide, but rather, the water outage will affect different areas of the
City on different days.
The water service outage is expected to affect residential and commercial customers. Utility Department, in conjunction with its contractor completing the work, will work
diligently to restore water service as quickly as possible. Moreover, the Johnson City
Volunteer Fire Department will be notified of these planned water outages.

The Utility Department is communicating the planned water outages through social media,
Reverse 911, and on its website, www.johnsoncitytx.org. Please communicate / share this
information with your neighbors – particularly those that do not utilize social media – so
that everyone can be aware of the planned water outages and can properly prepare.

Mission

We provide fire, rescue, and first responder services under contract to North Blanco County Emergency Services District (ESD 1), which provides us with tax-supported revenue.

We have 21 members. All of our fire personnel are volunteers. We have a very active group of 16 Fire Corp volunteers who assist with this organization's administrative needs.

We meet on Wednesdays at 6 PM at the Fire Station. Training is on the 2nd Wednesday, and the Business Meeting is on the 4th Wednesday of the month.

CRITICALLY IMPORTANT REMINDERS REGARDING BURNING

  1. Call before you burn! Call (830) 868-7104 to inform the Sheriff's Department.

  2. Have water and shovels nearby.

  3. Never start a fire with strong or gusty winds. Even a slight breeze can carry sparks that can start more fires.

  4. No night burning. Fires must be out by dark.

  5. Never leave a fire unattended.

We are located in the heart of Central Texas Hill County and are approximately 50 miles west of Austin, our State Capitol.
